Humanities on the Hill (HoH) is the annual advocacy event that brings together state humanities councils from all over the country to advocate for federal funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Federal/State Partnership, which administers funding to the state humanities councils.
Conducted by the Federation of State Humanities Councils, HoH is a three-day event where councils can share best practices, learn the latest congressional updates, and interact directly with legislators, staffers, and partners. HoH features an orientation session, members’ briefing, hill visits, congressional reception, and members’ debrief breakfast. These events prepare advocates for their hill visits, provide opportunities to connect with their representatives, and to reflect on their visits and discuss next steps, opportunities, and challenges to humanities advocacy.
